How to Prime your PROLUBE Dual Action Pistol/Level Grease Gun

When using the PROLUBE Dual Action Pistol/Lever Grease Gun, it will be necessary to prime it. Priming is the process in which the air pockets are removed when loading a grease cartridge into the barrel when loading the grease into the barrel. Listed below is step by step process on how to prime the Dual Action Pistol/Lever Grease Gun.

1. Remove the extension: Prime your grease gun without an extension attached to the head of the gun.
2. Lock the plunger: Pull the plunger all the way back until it locks in place.
3. Load the grease: Load Grease into the cylinder.
4. Attach the head: Screw the head onto the grease cylinder, but don't tighten it all the way. Leave it a little loose to let air escape.
5. Set the Mode: Make sure the gun is set to "Volume" mode (V).
6. Activate the Plunger Rod: Take out of the lock position and Force Prime.
7. Force Prime:
1. Turn the plunger rod until it locks while pushing at the same time.
2. Push and turn the rod gently until it unlocks and slides up the tube
3. Press the release valve a couple times while pushing the plunger to the top
4. You should see a steady stream of grease. If not, repeat these steps a few times until a steady stream of grease comes out.
8. Tighten the Head: Once the grease flows smoothly, tighten the head securely.
9. Attach the Extension: Screw on the extension and coupler, using a thread sealant to prevent leaks.

While using your grease gun, you will need to select either "Volume" (V) or "Pressure" (P) mode, depending on the needs of the task at hand.

• Volume setting is best for instances such as the engine or machinery has higher oil demands (high RPM usage), engines with increased bearing clearances from wear, and to help with cooling (more oil flow more efficiently carries away heat).
• Pressure mode is best for instances such as high load or high stress to prevent metal to metal contact and areas with tight clearances.

If your grease gun stops dispensing grease, it may be due to trapped air. To resolve this, repeat the priming steps outlined above.

Remember: Wear safety goggles and gloves when using a grease gun and store your grease in a cool dry location.
